I have installed antix 17.4 on my laptop. I have been connecting with ceni which works very well but am currently using the machine in several different locations and I think using Wicd would make life easier. I have looked at dolphins video for version 17.2 and he mentions editing a file in etc-defaults to start Wicd. However when I look at etc-defaults on my system the correct option isnt there. Can someone advise please how I can enable Wicd on this 17.4 system please.

        Hi Terrybull,
I don’t know if you still need a reply on this but…
You might have wicd already installed (Menu-applications-Internet-Wicd Network Manager put in your password and the interface opens to enter info for various networks you connect to)

        Regarding editing config files:
You can edit many of the settings through the AntiX control center:
        For example:

        Menu
        Control Center
In the control center, click on the Session tab in the left panel
        Select User Desktop-Session
When it opens (takes a few seconds to open), go to Startup tab (last tab)
and the 8th option down talks about wicd networking monitor ( you can remove the “#” to activate the icon for the taskbar).

        Hope this helps
        G

There is also the “netpro” thing, which lets you use ceni, and store different networks… I think it is in 17.4

            Hi Rust Collector,
Do you mean the antix goodies section of the AntiX github?

            …/antiX-Linux/antix-goodies/blob/master/bin/netpro

            Thanks
            G

It is quite possible that it is in the antix-goodies, but it comes installed on 17.4, or at least on the full version, which is the one I have to look at at the moment.
I just mention it as an option, because he said he was happy with ceni.
