error installing antix22

Hello,
I have had this problem several times lately and unfortunately have not found a solution yet.

I am trying to boot/install the downloaded antix iso image that I have set up on a usbstick using the antix “live usb maker” tool on several lenovo pcs.

The usb stick is recognized by the pc and i also get into the usb antix boot menu, but as soon as i want to boot i get the error messages on the photo.

This makes no sense to me because the pc had recognized the usb.

Hi, ben.

I’ve only gotten that error when I’ve been trying to boot a frugal install, if I didn’t set it up correctly.

Try adding the parameter: from=hd to see if that works.

EDIT: caprea beat me to it. And, as caprea wrote, ‘from=all’ is the better way to troubleshoot; checking ALL the devices to boot.

OK. So, it looks like maybe your USB port (or stick) is failing. It seems to be saying that once the kernel is loaded, it cannot find the device.
Is it only this computer that does not boot?
Or, is it only this usb-stick that does not boot?

In addition to suggestions from @ Christophe and @Caprea:
This situation is when linuxfs file in antiX folder is not there, is not correctly created or is encrypted. I would check on USB drive if it exists and is valid.
I had numerous issues like that in the past if linuxfs file is not valid or bootable…

Also, you could check integrity of the downloaded ISO using check-sums (such as sha256 etc.).
Sometimes, the download gets corrupted (messed up packets?) and it reveals in a bad functionality of the live medium.

PS: If you decide to use ‘dd’ as @RJP suggested, then be careful not to mix up the drive “labels” ‘/dev/sd[a-z]’.

It was the usb stick.
Working now with a different stick.
Strange because the usb stick goes without problems for data transfer.
I tried it with the stick both as writeable USB mode and read only USB mode. Both did not work.

Seen multiple times. You may have a faulty stick but sounds unlikely.
Save any important data elswhere.
Afterwards

Please clear any partitions then fully format the stick using GParted
with FAT 32.

You can check the stick for defects with the excellent F3 Fight flash
fraud tools. And repair it by marking bad blocks as such or setting
real size should you have a fake. Common….

If you have a Transcend Stick of larger size it may need a
controller software update. Sadly can only be done with windoze
and is called online repair. Fixed two misbehaving sticks for me.

On wdoze machines the HP USB format tool is also a very good
option.
