      Hello,

The first line: Thank you so much for antix icewm, sir! I use several years in my work aand great, perfect, fast, minimal, focus on what I need ie the mindset, get max performance from device. I really love antix concept, no-systemd.
I use diff linux/unix variants in work, by the project, buttt my main programming laptop use antix love :p

      Base, tech info:
      Linux nix 6.2.7-1-liquorix-amd64 #1 ZEN SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC
      Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) /antix sid sources

      A ‘problem’?

      > Error: Timeout was reached

Several last weeks I get not clear output with apt^^
On other side, everything is updated, works for me.

I looked to dpkg.log, as well, however I cant still figure up, why that message > Error: Timeout was reached

      Hmm

Any useful ideas from a practice?

        What was in dpkg.log?

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Hi, could you please describe what you do and when the error appears in more detail?

Do you run ‘apt’ from terminal and a timeout is reached?
You may copy your command and related output directly from the terminal.

Is it due to connection to repository (then switch to another one, closer to your location using Control Centre -> Software -> Repo Manager), slow internet connection when downloading packages?
Do you have enough free space on your drive?

I searched the internet with the following query ‘apt “Error: Timeout was reached”‘.
Someone suggested to run ‘sudo apt clean && sudo apt update’.

Please try repo-manager and change your repos
            control-centre > software > repo manager
You can use the button “Automatic selection of the fastest currently available server”
            Sybok was faster.

It can be an IPV6 issue. Check if IPV6 is in use.

@anticapitalista dpkg.log is clear, no errors.
@sybok @caprea Yes apt if I run terminal, I use only terminal : ) I know your links. I use swiss sources rn, tryid la too. My vpn net connect speed is about ~80. Space drive good.

                  I have disabled IPV6 sysctl.conf, no need.

Not just errors, but are there any half configured messages (or something like that) in dpkg.log?

                    You could try

                    update-initramfs -k all -u

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

The antix icewm, in my case, system runs absolutely perfectly, amazing. I use 24/7 several years for/as main work laptop /ruby, python, java, rust, android dev env… Really great, focus on minimal ui, and max device performance. Tha’s what I need, love that.

note: for example > I created own very minimal theme too, for my needs :p

Only in recent weeks have I been annoyed by this: Error: Timeout was reached
and I cant figure up, still, how solve, kick out from rox :/

                            That’s why, I wrote here.

That is Signal > Signal for Debian-based Distros
                              https://www.signal.org/download/linux/
                              it works for years..

You know, I disabled for tests diff sources (for example Signal too), and still timeout..
