When I plug a USB stick (data files only) into my wife’s laptop (Asus X551C), I’m unable to access its files. The problem isn’t the USB stick itself, as it opens on our other antix-laptops (all run on antix19-core + LXDE). For example, when I open zzzfm, and click on the USB stick, listed under devices as sdb1 115G CORSAIR in screenshot below, I get a mount error notification appearing. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

::Hi mikey777.
When that sort of thing happens to me, I normally do a search related to the error message.
Her computer is looking for libudisks2.so.0.
So I would see if there is a package in our repos that corresponds to “libudisks2.”My thought is to search in cli-aptiX to see what might be needed — then install the missing package that fits best, to see if it fixes the issue.
I’m sorry I don’t know for sure. But like I said, that kind of logic has worked for me in the past.

Many thanks Christophe for your help.
The command dpkg –list showed that libudisks2-0 was missing (there appears to be no candidate for libudisks2 & udisks2 was already installed). So I installed libudisks2-0, rebooted, but still get the error notification above.- This reply was modified 1 year, 2 months ago by mikey777.

::Hmm.
I looked it up, and I see that package DOES contain the file libudisks2.so.0.
But I don’t know why it isn’t being found. Can you mount the stick manually?- This reply was modified 1 year, 2 months ago by christophe.

Many thanks for your efforts on helping to resolve this one – I now have had this problem on two antix laptops.However, the good news is that I’ve solved it, though not in the most direct way, but nevertheless solved! Using a spare laptop (the Packard Bell in signature below) I wiped the drive and installed antix21-base, instead of antix19-core, and then installed LXDE. My reasoning was that by starting with the base version, instead of the core one, I would then be more sure of having all the files I needed for mounting of USB devices without errors – it worked as expected – no more ‘mounting errors’ with the USB data stick.
General observation on the LXDE install (Packard Bell laptop), re. antix19-core vs. antix21-base version: the previously installed core version took up 78MB RAM while idling. In comparison, the base version took up 107MB RAM, but following deletion of all the other DEs and applications I didn’t need, the final RAM (while idling) is only 84MB. However, the failure of pcmanfm to show plugged in USB devices in antix19-core still occurs with antix21-base, but using zzzfm has resolved this issue – problem reported recently at https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/file-manager-problem-pcmanfm/
edit 24.2.2022: Some good news. Antix21-base + LXDE now automounts USB-stick with pcmanfm, showing it plugged in under ‘Places’, and its data files are accessible as normal. The issue for antix21-base was that gvfs was missing from the initial install. When gvfs was subsequently installed pcmanfm worked normally. However, this was not the case for antix19-core where pcmanfm didn’t function properly, even in the presence of gvfs.
