      I get recurrent errors.
It has begun since I set up ‘random wallpaper timed’

Hmm, this seems like no folder was specified for indexing/selecting the random wallpapers.
Could you be more specific on when the error comes? Like when starting the desktop or when it attempts to roll over to a new wallpaper?
Also if possible the steps taken to produce the error so I can have a look.

It seems that the /usr/share/wallpapers directory that is used as the default directory also has sub-directories. Therfore the wallpaper app was trying to set a one of these sub-directories as a wallpaper. Fix should be available soon.

There was an update and indeed, I no longer get that error.
But now from time to time I get no picture on the desktop:

Are those wallapers in /usrs/wallpapers or /usr/share/backgrounds. I am mentioning the ones you call ” no picture “:

Oops, those are actually pictures, residing in /usr/share/wallpaper
              and named:

              BW_1280.png
              Cobalt_1280.png
              FancySand_1280.png
              FancySky_1280.png

              My apologies for wrong report.

But they are so unpicturesque, and reminiscent of bare X, that is why I had thought they are some sort of missing wallpapers.

Thus, here is another ‘bug report’ on wallpaper selection:
antiX deserves to be(come) snazzy, with no or negligible performance overhead,
there are zillions of stunning wallpapers under permissive licenses, why ship antiX with plain ones? Or is it antics?
The same applies to icewm themes.

I am not really artistic and lack time. There are a few others on the forum that have made the suggestion with examples. Again there are others that enjoy the non “modern” look. Maybe the opportunity is available to come together with other artistic people having the goal of making and *maintaining* a set of styles, wallpapers, icons, and themes…. Progressing from a forum post example; I cannot speak for others (maybe they will chime in) but perhaps forking the gitlab repos (Ex: https://gitlab.com/antiX-Linux/fluxbox-themes-antix, https://gitlab.com/antiX-Linux/desktop-defaults-fluxbox), making the changes, showing examples in the readme section with a merge request, etc… may make it easier to include than seeing a forum post and trying to scavenge the information there in at a later date (from the forum, imgur, google drive, where ever else that may expire).

What Dave mentioned applies to me also. Eye candy is not my forte.
Being a small team. Oh well.
                  At least it booted.

usually. When it comes to eye candy spinoff requests

Sounds like young buck territory to me.

                    @uxer:

None of us have any objections to adding whatever wallpaper or other features that you want, but please keep in mind a few things:

The purpose of antiX is to be “lean and mean”, which means that we want it to be able to run on a wide range of hardware (not every possible configuration, but as many as we can support with limited resources.

Our “sister” distribution, MX Linux, does have a larger community and a somewhat better ability to support additional customized configuration.

A few of our contributors have also shared their own artwork. You can find some of it at Forum > Forums > Screenshots

                    Search Google: Linux Wallpaper
For many more ideas and images.

                    Linux background images
                    Linux background desktop

Provide plenty of additional images and backgrounds.

                    I hope that is helpful.

Also, than more picturesque are wallpapers, then they usually took more memory. So I do not use any wallpapers at all – only black background. And this is even better for my eyes. Of course it is only my humble opinion.
