Hello, I am a newbie and need help. Eth0 my lan was not found / not working during live usb so I used wlan. Some folks on discord told me that driver for Ethernet is most likely not installed in kernel. I have asrock b360 pro 4 motherboard. I would love to use antiX but cannot if I am not able to use it properly 🙁

Please use your wlan and post the output from terminal of
        inxi -Fxz
So we can see your internet hardware.

The output from pastebin shows only your wlan rtl8188ee
Looking for your motherboard says it’s an intel lan , probably Giga PHY Intel I219V

            Does
            inxi -n
show which cards are exactly built-in ?

Maybe the first you could try is to update your kernel and it will hopefully get recognised then.

If you are still running live and not installed this would be the way to go

If you have already installed you can update the kernel with control-centre–>system–>package-installer
Chose kernel 4.19 or even 4.20 (the board is a pretty new model)

Thank you for your valuable input Mr. Caprea.

I will follow your instructions later today if I find spare 30 minutes.
I did not had a computer for a while and wanted to use Linux, since I used to work in it years ago (Linux Caldera and some of the first ubuntus).
I am really hoping that the Kernel update will fix my ethernet problem. Guys on discord told me to use more newbie-proof distribution such as ubuntu, but I just like this one thanks to its optimization.
              Best regards

edit. I would also like to add that I have downloaded the ethernet drivers from manufacturers website for linux. However i am clueless on how to actually install them.

Sorry to bump this post, just wanted to make sure I am on the right path to begin my Linux Journey with antiX together.

I have remasterred/saved the session on the usb stick after the kernel and APT upgrade to 4.20.
my Nvme SSD disk arrived today so I will test out if ethernet works under new kernel – on live session,
And if it does, can i simply install the system from the USB ?
Will be the new Kernel already included in the installation?

                  Yes.

To rule out errors you can look if the live-usb is really running the new 4.20-kernel with
                  uname -r

                  or
                  inxi -Fxz

                  from terminal

The USB after kernel update does not boot. I will have to make a new usb with kernel 4.19 only to see if it works.

                    – when i chose to boot from usb. it says loading kernel 99% and PC restarts. no msg nothing
