Hi every time I boot/reboot I have to re-enable the ethernet connection. I have tried posing with my system info and repo info but every time I do that it flags my post as spam. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any ideas about why I’m having to re-enable the ethernet connection? I’ll try to make another post below this one with my system info. Thanks

Also based on my system info, can someone please tell me what kernel I need to upgrade to? When I go to PC information and select full info, it says that my kernel is vulnerable to meltdown. Not sure about spectre or the CVE-2019-8912, Zombieload, “SACK Panic”. Thanks

                Hello CyberGhost,

Try using Menu > Applications > antiX > antiX WiFi Switch, click the Ceni button to change your network manager program. Configure your internet connection by navigating with the arrow keys or directional keys and the Tab key to access the options. The Enter key confirms each configuration step.

I hope it works with Ceni.

Marcelocripe, I have already done that many times and I’m not using the wireless. My connection is hardwired via ethernet cable. Like every time I go to update via the terminal, it gives me connection errors and then I have to go reset the ethernet connection via ceni and then it works. I have to do that every time I boot up or reboot.

Are you by any chance getting the error message in the terminal similar to this?

“The following signatures were invalid: EXPKEYSIG”

If this is the problem, the thread https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/expkeysig-error/ created by anticapitalist will help you solve the problem. On a fresh installation of antiX 19.3 full (before the release of the new antiX 19.4 ISO), when I tried to upgrade via the terminal, I observed this error, only after I fixed this problem (following the tutorial in the thread) that the connection remained set after restarting the computer.

                    ———-

Por acaso você está recebendo a mensagem de erro no terminal semelhante a esta?

“As seguintes assinaturas eram inválidas: EXPKEYSIG”

If I understand correctly, you have it configured to NOT start connman at bootime and let ceni manage both eth0 and eth1 instead. Are both configured by ceni or are you just using one?
Could you share the content of /etc/network/interfaces? eth0 and or eth1 should be set to “auto”, and not hot-plug. Is that correct?

When you boot, before you try to recover ethernet connection, what are the symptoms? No connection at all or the connection is made (eth0/1 show up in conky) but internet doesn’t work?
What is the output at boot-time of
                      sudo ifquery --list

Also when I run ceni to reconfigure the network to make it work again both the wireless and ethernet are displayed. Under my conky it shows as being connected too. I will include a screenshot of that. The eth0 is the one I have to reconfigure every time. I will have to reboot to show the output of this command you suggested: sudo ifquery –list Be back soon

                            sudo update-rc.d connman remove

Now, open /etc/network/interfaces and make sure that eht0 is set to auto

                            iface eth0 inet dhcp

Ok I ran those commands as suggested. The sudo update-rc.d connman remove, sudo update-rc.d resolvconf defaults, and sudo update-rc.d networking defaults. This is the output of this command: sudo geany /etc/network/interfaces

                              #——————————————————————————
                              # /etc/network/interfaces
                              #
                              # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
                              # Used by ceni but not by connman
                              #——————————————————————————

                              auto lo
                              iface lo inet loopback

                              allow-hotplug eth0
                              iface eth0 inet dhcp`

`What line do I need to edit if any? Also. after doing all of that and rebooting, I still get the same errors and still have to reconfigure eth0. So I must need to edit the /etc/network/interfaces. I’m just not sure which line or text I need to edit.

                                allow-hotplug eth0

change allow-hotplug for auto, so it looks like this:

                                #——————————————————————————
                                # /etc/network/interfaces
                                #
                                # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
                                # Used by ceni but not by connman
                                #——————————————————————————

                                auto lo
                                iface lo inet loopback

                                auto eth0
                                iface eth0 inet dhcp

But before restarting, edit as root /etc/default/networking and add these two lines at the end of the file:

                                WAIT_ONLINE_TIMEOUT=10
                                IFUP_TIMEOUT=10

Try rebooting. It shouldn’t take too long, as we are trying to limit the timeout to 10 seconds.

Recently (in the last year or two), we have seen that some times the allow-hotplug option didn’t work at boot, needing to restart the networking service, but when using the auto option, it brings a lot of lag at boot. I suspect there is something wrong with dhcp, or the ifup/ifdown hooks are taking too long to finish.

The migration to connman is necessary at this stage (for me), as we are having problems figuring out why all this is happening. At least I am not knowledgeable enough to figure this out myself.

Let us know if switching the allow-hotplug to “auto” has helped at all.

Ok I did everything you suggested and then rebooted. Its working fine now! Thank you so much! I would mark this as solved but my original post doesn’t have the option anymore. If an admin sees this please mark it as solved thanks!
