      Hello,

I’m new to this distribution and would like to give it a try.

After successfully creating a live usb with UNetbootin (version full x86), I tried to run it on 2 computers and had the same result on both. The grub menu (particularly nice) is ok. After setting the options and choosing the first (default) entry, the kernel is loaded successfully, but the routine stops with a fatal error, stating that it can’t find the linuxfs binary. I checked and of course, this binary is in its folder /antiX/. Have you ever already run in that error? Have you an idea of what could be its cause?

Thank you in advance for your help

Did you check the md5sum of your download, maybe a corrupt download.

        Linux (& BSD) since 1999

Sounds like an error caused by unetbootin.

            Yes. Checksum is ok.

I “checksumed”, rebuilt the usb drive (mbr and formatting) and reinstalled the iso via UNetbootin. Same result. I attached a photo of the screen displaying the error (not very good quality, but it should be readable).

I don’t think it’s linked to UNetbootin, as I added the iso on one of my multiboot usb flash drive and the result was the same: fatal error at the same place. One point: In the first screen, for the F5 options, I left the default ‘none’ option. I wondered if I should have selected ‘from=usb’? I haven’t understood very well this option.

If none of you have problem, I’m a bit puzzled!

I suppose you are talking of antiX control center. But I run ubuntu / ubuntu-gnome / kali. How can I do to create my first live usb?

The from=usb option is a nice feature if you have a PC that cant boot from usb
You need a cd and a usb with the same kernel and version, and your incapable pc will boot from usb(much faster and you can write on)
unetbootin should always be the newest version

No persistence involved. KISS involved. Works like a charm for me on other linux installs.

Thank you very much all for your help. I eventually succeeded with a simple dd command. Solved. I’ll be able to give the distro a try on my old computer this evening 🙂

More generally, it would be nice to have a way to add the distro to a grub multiboot usb flash. I think that we just miss the correct grub linux kernel command call (in grub.cfg) to do so.
