      Hi,

I installed the Nextcloud Desktop app and when launching it I have a Nextcloud window waiting for credentials and a small window stating:

“The file doesn’t exist” (please, see screenshot below):

I suppose launching the Nextcloud app is causing this small window with the error message to appear. Would you have any idea how to prevent this?

      Thank you.

There is no trash can folder in Rox file manager, files get totally deleted when you delete them, so that’s why you get this error. If you set up zzzfm as the file manager, there might be a trash can. (Menu – Other desktops – zzz/IceWM.) The experts will know.

I don’t think stock antiX 22 has the trash, but if you install ft10 it is included in it.

I am thinking antiX 23 might have it, but I’m not on my computer here to look.

          PPC would know for sure.

There is no trash can folder

As Pun Ranger wrote, antiX does not have/utilize a trash can type of mechanism (as of the current antiX 22). It is currently in development for antiX 23.
Here’s some more info about it on a recent thread:
            https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/trash-is-activated-for-antix21-22/

Tip: If that error message bothers you, you could add the folder to that location yourself, even though the functionality wouldn’t be working.
            Just a thought. 🙂

                hello arnauld

Tutorial to configure Recycle Bin in English language:
                Trashcan Possible?

Tutorial to configure the Recycle Bin in Portuguese language:
Adicionar “Reciclagem” ou “Lixeira” ao antiX

The tutorials are explaining for the SpaceFM file manager, but the procedure is for zzzFM.

You still have these other options in the archive:

ZzzFM Settings with Trash and Favorites
ZzzFM File Manager Configurator for antiX 21e 22

Download the compressed file “.zip” and the text file “.txt” in Brazilian Portuguese language, use an automatic translation service to translate the text into your language. If you can proofread the machine translation text and send me the file in your language, I will include it in the “.zip” archive for the benefit of speakers of your language.

Yes. Click the antiX menu > Terminal, then run this command:

                  mkdir $HOME/.local/share/Trash/files

You can then close the terminal and try to use your app.

It will create the folder that program seems to require. It’s a strange problem because I never heard of any app that checks if a Trash folder exists. You can create a Trash folder even if you OS (like antiX, until version 23beta) does not have File Managers that send files/folders to the Trash…
The message is even stranger because the app complains about a missing file, but then shows a missing folder (I know, I know, in Linux, everything is a file).

I hope doing this takes care of that bug.

                  P.

This was also my first thought: What does a cloud application hope to find in a local trash folder, and why is it interested to look into it at all?

But whatever the reason for this strange request might be: Obviously this nextcloud thing wants to lurk in your local trash bin by default and complains if you happen to run a system which has none.

                    https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/admin_manual/configuration_files/trashbin_configuration.html

»If the trash bin app is enabled (default)…«

They are pretty naive to assume and presuppose all systems must run a trash bin… You should file a bug report at nextcloud for this.

I do wonder whether they corrupt the trashbin present in antiX 23 by interfering with the files in this folder, possibly not taking care for removing the respective entries in the parallel info folder but relying on and updating their internal database only…

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.
