As expected, the Firefox Version 121.0 (64-bit) Web Browser released today; you can expect LibreWolf to provide their modifications to this browser and release their next version in a couple of days.

This is still the plan for the next quarter in 2024:

@xunzi_23 shared with us the other day about the latest Ungoogled Chromium build.
This morning I noticed the arrival of another expected build – the latest LibreWolf,
right on time, a few days after the introduction of Firefox 121.

So if you do not have the LibreWolf repo enabled and you appreciate SOME stuff
about Firefox, but want privacy and security similar to what you get with
Ungoogled Chromium, use DuckDuckGo and search for LibreWolf; the latest version
                    is now available.

One more piece on LibreWolf – those of you who place a particularly high emphasis on privacy and protection will appreciate this:

                        “What is LibreWolf?
This project is a custom and independent version of Firefox, with the primary goals of privacy, security and user freedom.

LibreWolf is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements. This is achieved through our privacy and security oriented settings and patches. LibreWolf also aims to remove all the telemetry, data collection and annoyances, as well as disabling anti-freedom features like DRM.”

I’m here with LibreWolf 121.0-1, the lastest update.

On the tab indicating Version and details it says:

LibreWolf in large bold sky blue color with the LibreWolf logo to the left.

Below, it indiates 121.0-1 as the current version, with this short description, similar, but not identical, to the description in my previous post:
“LibreWolf is an independent fork of Firefox, with the primary goals of privacy, security, and user freedom.
                          https://librewolf.net

My quick analysis and comparison between Ungoogled Chromium and LibreWolf are these:

                          1) they both share a common interest in privacy, security, and user freedom.
                          2) ungoogled chromium is a smaller, much more nimble implementation; it is probably better for somewhat older systems, though I don’t believe they have a 64-bit Linux image; there IS a 32-bit Windows version; I suppose you could use it with a Windows emulator or Windows in a virtual machine if you needed 32-bit support.
                          3) LibreWolf, on the other hand, is a much more stout, powerful, capable, and BIG image. If you have a system that’s only a few years old, or brand new, this browser will offer you a rich experience at the cost of a LOT of memory and process usage, and in return it will deliver most of the features that are available in the most feature rich sites, but it will take greater measures to ensure “the primary goals of privacy, security, and user freedom.”

“LibreWolf is always based on the latest version of Firefox. Updates usually come within three days from each upstream stable release, at times even the same day. Unless problems arise, we always try to release often and in a timely manner.”
