I am able to set up UFW via the command line, but the GUI is greyed out and cannot be used. I’m using a live persistence usb. Thanks.
If you start it like “sudo gufw” and use the “unlock” button on the bottom right then you should be able to use it. At least that works here.

Thanks BitJam. The unlock button did not work before, but it seems to now. I guess you have to hit it just right.
Did you try opening gufw in the control centre?
