Tagged: t60, won't boot
I inadvertently hit the fn-f12 key on my IBM T-60 running Antix…(meant to turn down brightness)..it gave a string of warnings, which seemed to say “device not found”… system shut down… When I reboot, all I can see is a blank screen. If I hit the power button, I see the string of boot data ending with my user name and Login: but no matter what I do, even if I quickly enter my password, the computer shuts down. I believe the fn f12 key is meant to put the system to sleep? In any event, I’m unable to access anything… I’m very new to Antix and not a very sophisticated linux user… Any advice appreciated.
Here’s what the key looks like…not sure what it does…
Hi asabatelli, my laptop is a similar or maybe even the same, lenovo T60.
Fn-F12 is the hibernate-button and works here if I press any button at the blank screen, it goes to a white screen where I only have to type my password.
Anyway to get out of this circle, you could try , remove the power supply unit, remove the battery and then without them keep the power button pressed for 30 seconds.
Thanks for your reply… Yeah, that what I assumed was happening, but no matter which button I pushed, it remained locked on the black screen… I actually ended up reinstalling the whole system… I wanted to try the 64 bit iso anyway, and it’s working fine now! I’ll just make sure and steer clear of hitting that key again! Strange that it had such a catastrophic effect on my T60… Thanks again,
