Your /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows the nvidia-driver is setting the dpi to minor
29.282] (–) NVIDIA(0): DPI set to (49, 50); computed from “UseEdidDpi” X config
because the driver uses the EDID Dpi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data which is obviously wrong.
Please try what is suggested in the other thread, better make a backup of your existing /etc/X11/xorg.conf before doing so.
@RickyRacoon,
I was not able to fix this until today, following Caprea’s input on your querry. It turns out that it is not a problem particular to antiX/MX but rather how the default driver responds to the Edid DPI settings. Probably some of those other distros addressed this for you in the settings and in antiX you have to catch it and make them config edits yourself.
This machine is an old Dell Dimension R521 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ and a GeForce 6600 PCIe graphics card. Here’s the inxi output:
Thanks y’all! I’ve been out of pocket a while, but the next time I have some time to fiddle with it, I’ll try those instructions out. It’s not my daily driver on the computer in question (is on a different machine of mine) but I like having antiX handy on this machine so I can get used to using it when I’m just fiddling around. I’ll report back in this thread what happens.
