Hi I have been playing around with various Linux distros for a while my desktop is running Ubuntu mate 18 and I have AntiX on my laptop.

On Ubuntu and others when I open the terminal and run “sudo synaptic” and enter root password synaptic starts. If I then close synaptic and that terminal and do the same things I have to enter the root password again. this is what I am used to.

On Antix so long as I enter the root password once I dont have to enter it again.

How do I configure Antix so it allways asks for password?

Standard timeout for sudo is 15 minutes.
If you prefer a shorter period of time just add the following line at the end of /etc/sudoers:

        Defaults timestamp_timeout=1
        or even
        Defaults timestamp_timeout=0

        compare: http://linuxg.net/change-sudo-password-timeout/

The setting is in the control centre. I forget what it is called but the app changes the authentication method for root from sudo (default) to su.
