Right now I had my first actual error
503
With the forum.
Now in know what you folks were talking about 😀

Back to topic.
I played with epiphany browser a bit today.
It works ok on other sites.
But only here on the forum, I can’t scroll down further than about 1 1/2 topics.
Not even getting to the forum itself.
Will try opening a posting directly, see it auto scrolls to the selected post in a thread.

We had an outage earlier today; I’ve been checking around since the forum came back and it seems to be fine.
Let us know if you see any difficulties other than the already documented “503” errors.

I’m 90% certain that these are a consequence of spam related “storms”, where the intruders literally attack our site from a variety of locations, probably innocent people’s systems that they’ve attacked and use to launch further attacks on their “targets”; we’re obviously the source of at least some of these attacks.

Keep the faith; our administrators do the best they can with limited resources to keep our forum safe and available.

Earlier today clicking on antiX forum link accomplished nothing else but downloaded some config text file of some ‘Press’ server service.
Interesting who on earth would want to target a technical forum like this… Must be some identity mistake…

Well, 1) Our leader is an anti capitalist so hard core rich capitalists may not like it. 2) we produce great software, freely available that is better in our minds than expensive stuff.

Guys. Peregrine. Our Forum super duper admin. Let us know the culprit . Even with download window opened up and a wordpress script .part file could be downloaded. So I did and looked inside. It wasn’t executable like a .sh file. Anyways.

Server at wordpress is to blame. It affected more sites than ours. No mention of attack. That is what wordpress told peregrine.
Works OK now.

Well, with all my respect, I do not think though that antiX forum is such a great THREAT to those billionaire types that they would be afraid of and engage in such war to defeat such a formidable enemy and/or competition…

But think about how frightening it must be for Bill Gates, who is worth $114 billion on paper because of stock in a company that produces software that’s less capable than completely free antiX. His $114 billion in net worth is a complete mirage, an illusion, a jedi mind trick. I think the term, “the emperor has no clothes” applies.

Well, you made me think a bit more about it… I realize this could be a remake of the David against Goliath…
If this is indeed a correct analogy then I can foresee Bill Gates taken down in one blow…

My bet would be a bug in server software or a failing piece of hardware. I would say rokytnji’s answer is the most likely.

People do things and there are results, not always the desired ones.

Maybe they were trying to fix the 503 errors and caused other troubles in the process.

I’ve been having quite a few (and long lasting) 503s in the last couple of days. I guess someone doesn’t want antiX to be THE distro of 2023.

Maybe I was offline during today’s outage(s) but you’re right; we have problems virtually each day with 503 related stuff.
