Tagged: installation, partition
Hi all,
i`m from a LiveCD right now.
I`ve a partition with some files I want to recover. Which is the best way to do this? Is the main one, which used to be root (including /home).
Thanks in addition.
Could you please describe the problem that requires you to perform the recovery?
What is the filesystem of the partition (ext4, ntfs, fat32 etc.)?
If you forgot a password, that can be dealt with and it was discussed in the forum elsewhere.
If the system/disc got corrupted, this could be harder to do.
I would use the zzzfm file manager. Note which options I have checked. You will need the 2nd panel on the right to make it easy to copy things from the left panel.
Of course this assumes you are able to mount the partition in question. You might need to use zzzfm’s root option to mount the partition. I’m not the expert on how to mount things.
I just leave my settings that way because I like to be able to see what partitions are available all of the time. Yes, if you uncheck them, it goes back to the way it was.
Since you are running from USB, if you have home persistence enabled, it can save the settings, otherwise they will be lost when you reboot.
