how does one transfer files or directories betweem two logical drives using SpaceFM (not terminal)?

No need to use terminal if you don’t want. Try:

      SpaceFM/zzzFM Menubar → View → "Panel 1 View"
      Activate Checkbox "Devices"

(Alternatively or additionally activate Checkbox “Tree”, choose what suits you best)
This allows you fast access to all places in your file system(s). Then:

      SpaceFM/zzzFM Menubar → View
      Activate Checkbox "Panel 2"

Now you get two panes in the spaceFM/zzzFM window (reminding a bit of a GUI version of midnight-commander, or the prehistoric “Norton-Commander” from MS-DOS days). You can adjust the size and layout of the panes by dragging their respective borders using the mouse.

Navigate in one of the panes to the folder from where you want to copy something from, and in the other pane navigate to the target folder.
Select using the mouse from the source folder all what you like (try ctrl and/or alt button while left-clicking on a file to modify your selection. “Rubberband” method is also accepted.)
To actually start the copy process there are several methods again:
Drag and drop your selection to the second pane, where your target folder is waiting.
      or
Press ctrl+c when the source pane is active, then click the target pane, and press ctrl+v
      or

Right click the source file(s) once they are selected,
          from context menu choose "copy".
Then select target pane and again right click to get
the context menu and choose "paste".

You can mix the last two methods, and these do also work in case you perform everything in a single pane, either by navigating to the target for pasting once you have selected and copied, or simply clicking another tab where a target folder might be waiting to take the files.

Hint: In case you don’t like the default single click to open a file instead of selecting it, change this behaviour in the preferences:

SpaceFM/zzzFM Menubar → View → Preferences → Tab "General" → Section "File list"
Deactivate Checkbox "Single click opens files"

Then the old-school way of double clicking will open the file, while a single click selects it instead.

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

I just noticed that plain Rox has “Edit as root” in the context menu, so maybe that solves my editing issue. My oversight, sorry for the fuss.
