frugal installs

My respect to all!
frugal installs – this is possible for example in the home directory to allocate space and boot the system from it, as live?
while the entire disk layout is not affected?
if I’m wrong, correct me.

I am not sure what you are asking.
Do you want a frugal install to be inside your /home folder?

Frugal install is simply install antiX inside a folder instead of a partition, and boot to it as if it was an antiX live session, as you are already aware by your post.

You can create it automatically from a live CD/USB at boot or manually from inside an installed or live system, taking the content of the /live/boot-dev/antix/ folder live system or from inside an .iso file to the folder you want to install it.
You would then add the grub.entry (or create it manually following any of christophe’s guides) as a custom grub entry and be able to boot to it from your grub at boot.

I was just wondering if it’s possible to do something in directory – for example /home – so that I can load from it as live session without changing or breaking the already installed system.
how similar is it to debootstrap?

You can easily install it to the root system (default). Note root system not root folder.
This will not have any impact on your installed system (except adding size to it).
I currently run several frugal installs on my antiX-19 laptop.

There are SO many useful ways to run antiX 19!

1. Standard install with the classic sysvinit scheduler.
a) run this with the Full. Base, Core, or Net method, depending on what kind of system you need.

2. Standard install, but replace the sysvinit scheduler with the runit scheduler.
a. As above there are four different ways to install this depending on what you need.

3. Now we get into the USB alternatives. As above you can start with either scheduler, and now you have a choice of using persistence, and if so, whether or not to use a Frugal configuration or a more extensive amount of information to save in a persistent state.

A note: Using Frugal makes it a lot faster to run with USB and persistence, so it’s up to you; save everything or even run from your system drive – that may be a good choice if you have a fast solid state drive, or be frugal about what you save.

Great choices and antiX is a leader in this type of technology and flexibility.

I don’t know much about everything,
I’ve been using a computer for a couple of years. Windows has never been used in my life. ))
Puppy Linux like, too, advanced in this topic.
I hung out a bit on their forum and came to the conclusion that really AntiX the best.

There are many very good distributions.
Good ideas can be found in lots of open software. We’re not the only ones doing good things, but the combination of choices and options is excellent and our distribution works well with a wide range of hardware including some really old hardware.
