::You probably have picom installed. It didn’t work on mine until I installed that. Do you like the transparency? One person said they use it to keep stuff underneath that they need to refer to. Me, that’s when I use tiling and copy/paste. picom isn’t large, but base probably can’t afford anything…

I like it. It’s just a bit of fun, I think. Sprucing it up.

::Are you running picom or compton from ~/.desktop-session/startup?
It wouldn’t take much to add it commented out for the user to uncomment there.
On mine I didn’t need any special configuration or parameters. I didn’t notice how much memory it used, and the machine was too fast to notice how much effect if had on performance.
I agree it does look cool. I didn’t try it with anything other than roxterm.

::I’m only using roxterm’s preferences to use transparency. But it doesn’t show the contents of other windows below it, only the wallpaper. (But it looks cool.) Sorry for the confusion.

::It’s actually interesting that it works. Maybe it makes sense to include compositing on the 64 bit full version. A few lines in ~/.desktop-session/startup could run it if installed and enabled.
I created a menu icon to match the rest of the theme, and improved the color highlights on the menu and toolbar…
PS:
1. I made the menu separators the same color as the darkest marbles, and made them very thin. See if that looks better. If not, explain clearly what you want it to look like
2. I can’t figure out how to change the button images. I have tried a number of different picture editors and none could edit them. I am no expert editing pictures. If you can edit them or tell me how, let me know.- This reply was modified 6 months, 1 week ago by BobC.

::I’m guessing its pseudo-transparency, the same way it works in conky. It simply copies the desktop wallpaper.
I agree that transparency is fun, but only for a while. For readability and less strain on the eyes a solid background is better.
