First some flattery:
antix gave life to that more than twenty year old laptop of my neighbour!
Everything works wonderful, fast and comfortable.
My honest compliments!I immediately went on a promotional tour and got my daughter in law tor try antix on her much younger laptop.
But … though everything works fine, she just needs only few applicatione in her daily life.
Does it make any sense to uninstall the rest, she doesn’t need?
I can only imagine that updating is much less transfer of data, but is it worth the effort?Perhaps globally seen, yes! (Less data, less energy wasted.)
What do the philosophers think about it?greetings
P.S.
One example: from time to time my daughter has to show some pictures with only few text-comments.
Is it worth to install the complete libreOffice package? Aren’t there more frugal programms for that purpose? I think of all the libraries which make me little dizzy, when I watch the update-process, running apt-get update.- This topic was modified 1 year, 6 months ago by orthodox42.

::How about using antiX-base instead?
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

No.
Don’t waste your time.
But, say, start from antiX base (as anticapitalista suggested), and only add what you want. Leave the rest as-is.
Some of those unneeded things actually do things you need “behind the scenes,” so to speak.
Just enjoy.
🙂confirmed antiX frugaler, since 2019

::Regarding images with text comments.
There are many ways, the ones I could think of in few minutes are listed below.
1) (Libre)Office (LO) suite or LibreOffice-Impress only.
I believe that one can install individual tools, e.g. ‘libreoffice-impress’, only instead of the full LO suite.
2) Add text using convert, e.g. https://www.instructables.com/Add-text-to-images-with-Linux-convert-command/
3) Convert image to PDF and annotate the PDF e.g. using the program Xournal.
4) Edit in GIMP (a rather heavy program/solution).
5) (La)TeX presentation using Beamer.My current feeling is that 1) is probably the easiest solution.

::We should not forget MTPaint, it is very fast and lightweight, better than its somewhat dated looks suggest.

::Just load the full edition and mod the menu to lighten up. If you need something you don’t “think” you’ll use, it’s still in there

::Agree with Likki Mii
When passing on antiX to friends relations users I give an enhanced full edition. Up to now all the computers
could handle that. With bells and whistles antiX is still a smaller installation than most distros.Compare to windoze it seems almost impossible to have so much full featured software in such a small space.
Most new users will explore in the menu, need a tool which is not in base edition, get worried installing new
applications from console or even the antix application installer. -
