GitHub Desktop – The Linux Fork
GitHub Desktop is an open source Electron-based GitHub app. It is written in TypeScript and uses React. What is this repository for?
This repository contains specific patches on top of the upstream desktop/desktop repository to support Linux usage.
It also hosts preview packages for various Linux distributions:AppImage (.AppImage)
Debian (.deb)
RPM (.rpm)You are probably more likely to succeed by using the AppImage instead of the .deb
Said differently, I expect installing the from-PPA .deb will provide an imperfect result.
(Browse the other tickets and note that even users of stock Debian10 have reported problems.)a websearch for: solved Unknown or unsupported transport “disabled” for address “disabled”
led me to this:

It’s a ticket regarding some other nodejs / Electron app, but the problem and fix may be identical to your case.March 7, 2020 at 10:04 pm #33376Memberops

::only other thing I can suggest at this stage is running dbus-monitor in the background to see if a helpful error appears that might explain why it’s not working. This guide has some rules to help filter out the noise: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingDBus
