@sw-ekb – make your points without being nasty to others ie don’t call people ‘stupid’.

Any interest I could have had for this topic died the moment it was about “fighting for your country” and “patriotism”. People were fighting to protect their families, and avoid that people they knew and loved would suffer. Having pride for your state is just looking at the wrong things.

I admire the people for fighting to protect what is dear to them, but the state is just an organization (that may or may not have the interest of their people in their eyes).

I have no pride for my country and no hate for any other country or their people. I do have problems with their (and my) governments. If my country changes its name, or became a smaller state of another country, or breaks up, I care not as long as the institution (we call “the state” or “the government”) works better than the current one and doesn’t bring suffering to the ones close to me. Obsessing in protecting my country’s “image” means nothing to me if my family will starve or have to fight a war on pride.

I am against terrorism. Any attack on any group should be fought (if necessary and the only path, when a more peaceful method is impossible). Most terrorist acts come from pride (in their country, culture, religion, etc.), and why I am against patriotism (pride in the state, or what they want you to believe is “your country”).

My country has done horrible things to other countries in the past, and I will never try to defend it against negative opinions or try to project to other countries “that did worse” than what “my country” did. I can see politicians do that in my country every week, and it disgusts me to see people falling for the trick of “but they are worse”, or “those are small things, look at all the great thing we have done”, to cover the mistakes with pride. Brainwashing I call this.

            Sorry, f..ng G..le Trans…

From this your statement I understand only the ‘Sorry’ part. I do not think you can blame Google Translator when you use words with specific meaning, such as ‘Liar’ used many times towards Uxer in response to his bringing up opinion and references in civil discussion. There is no way Google Translator would arbitrarily inject words “liar’ or ‘lie’ translating from Russian language as in Russian these words are very specific as well.
Russians are a great nation with long history and culture. Russian literature is among the greatest, alongside with French and German. By resorting to such epithets against Uxer instead of civil arguments you practically destroyed your otherwise good topic initiated in the original post…

@olsztyn – Uxer deserved being called a Liar since he was posting discredited sources justifying the holocaust, calling Jews ‘vermin’ and downplaying Nazi war crimes.
If you start posting the same ideas as uxer, you’ll be banned too.

                @ anticapitalista:
Although I happen to not agree with Uxer on these points you mention, and I never expressed any such views, here or elsewhere, nevertheless you threaten me with being banned from this forum in case I had any such, then you might as well ban me right now.

                Should this happen:

Those who read my statements posted before, never expressing such extreme political views, as I have no such, nevertheless facing your threatening note above as preventive measure, those will see your extreme intolerance at whim.

In case this happens to be my closing post pending your political whim, I want to express my thanks to you for leading antiX, as ultimately this is what matters to me and not the political expression it represents.
If I misunderstood your intentions, I do apologize.
                Thanks and Regards.

Why did you start raising questions that are not related to MY topic? Why started maintaining an explicit antisemit=nazi?
This thread for the history of the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union against Hitler’s Germany, only about it. Do you understand?

@olsztyn – my objection was this comment of yours

his bringing up opinion and references in civil discussion

There is nothing civil about what Uxer posted. I have zero tolerance for such views he expresses.
Glad to see that you posted to say that you do not share them.

I have edited In a Greek Kafeneio.
                    It now reads
“A place to discuss non-linux stuff including politics. Note: This is not a place to post whatever you like. All racist and fascist posts will be deleted.”

                    Now, back on topic.

Like Xecure, I’m not comfortable with the term ‘Patriotic’ as the fight against fascist and Nazi barbarity was a lot more than just defending a ‘motherland/fatherland’.
There were class and political issues involved as well. As is known, most partisan movements were more likely to be led by Communists/socialists/anarchists. For such people and movements, the war was not about Patriotism’, but fighting for some kind of better world beyond capitalism.

It is not really my place to say, but I would rather see the Kafeneio removed instead of banning users for expressing their opinions. I do not share many of opinions shared here. Some of it I find disgusting. But I am not here to have political or religious or patriotic discussions. I am here for antiX and Linux. I’ll leave it at that.

                            Hi,
I also share the same thinking as @seaken64. I am also here for to learn more about antiX and linux. I think talking about politics makes people more upset at one another. I appreciate that members are here helping and teaching one another. I am learning so much from fellow members.
                            Thank you.
