::Some guesses here but may help. Did you go through the thread for Firefox snd.
Some excerpts here.Did you try starting sea monkey with apulse seamonkey
Set default sound card… Look for post from Koo pls.
Add .asound.conf in your home: do cat /proc/asound/cards to find your sound card
pcm.!default {
type hw
card N
}ctl.!default {
type hw
card N
}Substitute N with a small integer, 0 for your first sound card (which is the default), 1 for your second, and so on.
The ! in !default isn’t negation here! It is an overriding of the previously (system-wide defined) global alsa.conf .
Did you try using media-sound/apulse. For this to work by going to about:config and adding
“/dev/snd/” (note the trailing slash) to “security.sandbox.content.write_path_whitelist” option.
you might try adding this preference if not present.Adjust libxul.so if used in sea monkey to use the apulse library instead of loading the original PulseAudio files.
patchelf –set-rpath /usr/lib/apulse /usr/lib/firefox/libxul.so As in Firefox thread.
NOTE. minus minus before command.
forum software can mangle that.Pulseaudio degrades sound and is yet another layer in system, pavucontrol is for pulse not alsa.

::rokytnji, I believe I installed seamonkey via Package Installer.
ModdIt, I’m a little confused about your post. Can you give me just one solution at a time? I have not downloaded pulseaudio or pavucontrol.
Thank you.

::You need to edit line 53 (as root or sudo) of the seamonkey desktop file in /usr/share/applications to read:
Exec=apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey %uie just add apulse.
You will need to do this every time seamonkey gets upgraded so keep a copy of your new desktop file.

::Exec=apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey %u
This did NOT fix the problem for me.
Antix 17, 32bit. Just upgraded to Seamonkey v.2.53.1 via Symantic.
It is possible that this is not a new issue, because I don’t usually use Seamonkey for videos or audio.
With the latest version of Firefox-esr (68.6.0), audio is working fine.However, starting in terminal with “apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey %u” (without quotes), audio is good.
My problem was solved by editing the seamonkey line in /usr/share/desktop-menu/.icewm/menu-applications to insert apulse before the path to the seamonkey executable.- This reply was modified 3 years, 1 month ago by DaveW. Reason: underline function acted different than expected

::I didn’t try antiX-17. This definitely works on antiX-19. (edit – it works in antiX-17 as well – Update Menu)
If you do what I suggested and then click on ‘Refesh Menu’, there shouldn’t be any need to manually edit the menu-applications file.

::But if you run
apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey %u
from terminal seamonkey has sound in youtube, yes ?
March 22, 2020 at 6:49 am #33683Memberbci
::$ apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey
[calBackendLoader] Using Thunderbird’s builtin libical backend
[apulse] [error] do_connect_pcm: can’t get initial hw parameters for playback device “default”. Error code 1 (Operation not permitted)
[apulse] [error] do_connect_pcm: failed to open ALSA device. Apulse does no resampling or format conversion, leaving that task to ALSA plugins. Ensure that selected device is capable of playing a particular sample format at a particular rate. They have to be supported by either hardware directly, or by “plug” and “dmix” ALSA plugins which will perform required conversions on CPU.(no sound)

::Do you still have pulseaudio installed? You should remove it.
Also make sure nothing is muted (M) – open alsamixer.

::sudo apt remove pulseaudio
worked. Thanks, anticapitalista! (Nothing had been muted.)
BTW, ditto on a prior observation that, for Seamonkey to give you sound from the menu, it was necessary to edit the IceWM menu file itself; simply
editing the .desktop file didn’t do the trick.- This reply was modified 3 years, 1 month ago by bci.

::Hello friends!
Exec=apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey %udid not work for me.
Editing:
prog "SeaMonkey" /usr/share/pixmaps/seamonkey-mozillabinaries.xpm /opt/seamonkey/seamonkeydid not work for me too. How exactly do you edit it? I’ve tried the following, all failed:
prog "SeaMonkey" apulse /usr/share/pixmaps/seamonkey-mozillabinaries.xpm /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey prog "SeaMonkey" /usr/share/pixmaps/seamonkey-mozillabinaries.xpm apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey prog "SeaMonkey" apulse /usr/share/pixmaps/seamonkey-mozillabinaries.xpm apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkeyThe only thing that worked was running this command in the terminal:
apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey %uHelp please
