LXterminal is fine, but very limited in features. I also doesn’t support transparency under plain fluxbox.

This is the first thing i do when installing , if i want to use testingrepos, prior to dist-upgrade. I set lxterminal to hold to keep the stable variant, just because of the fake transparency.
lxterminal from stretch uses libgtk2 and the one from buster uses libgtk3 and the fake-transparency doesn’t work any more

We can expect roxterm “latest version” will be undesirable.
A while back, when working on rox-filer I checked the prospect of also forking roxterm
        https://github.com/realh/roxterm/commits/master/debian/control
and discovered that its later versions (compared to the version present in debian8 // antiX16)
        — dropped gtk2 support
        — use libvte2.91 (no transparency/opacity) and “depppppacate” other roxtern features related to libvte-2.90 functionality

Zero remarkable bugs were reported against the older version, and only 1 bugfix (insignificant, regarding callback in response to new tab events) is present in later roxterm version… so I decided it’s not (yet) worth the effort to fork ~~ just keep using the (debian8 // antiX16) version.

FWIW, Deepin project maintains a fork of the libvte2.91 package which is patched to restore transparency support. I haven’t investigated whether that can cleanly serve as a drop-in replacement for use in antiX.

I had a very frustrating day today. My new Antix17 deteriorated with every new boot: hangups in Spacefm, Firefox and other programs… Unetbootin and Live USB Maker no longer working. I had to make a unetbootin stick with my old Antix15 system, and that one gave an error message when booting from it (‘Not a com32R image’). Wasted lots of time, but in the end I had a clean Antix 17.2 (x64) install from the iso, without any customisation whatsoever of the live system before install. For the moment I don’t have any problems at all. Startup and shutdown times are as good or even better than with Antix15 32 bit (45 sec. and 1ess than 10 sec. respectively). This is what I’ve done so far:

          Installation Antix 17.2
          =======================

          * Clean install from iso with unetbootin
          * Root partition says Antix 17.1!

Background of the conky window changes more slowly than in Antix15
          * Startup timed: ~45 seconds - Shutdown timed: less than 10 seconds (the same or
even slightly better than Antix 15)

I can confirm that the conky background is changing more slowly then in Antix15. And maybe I know why. In Antix15 I had Conky 1.10.2. Now Synaptic says I have Conky-legacy-all 1:1.9.0-6. So it seems I have a different versionn of conky after all.

old roxterm now available in the antiX repos.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Good job. I’m using it now as default terminal. Love it. Thanks!
