I updated the full antiX 21 a few minutes ago and the antiX menus have texts in Portuguese and other texts in English, I need the texts in Brazilian Portuguese.

O marcelocripe instalou o antiX no meu computador sem cobrar absolutamente nada, ele fez isso voluntariamente. Ele me deu aulas de como usar o antiX. E eu aceitei as suas recomendações de fazer o cadastro aqui no fórum do antiX.
Hoje eu resolvi fazer o cadastro e estou contente que conseguir postar aqui.
Eu atualizei o antiX 21 completo há alguns minutos atrás e os menus do antiX estão com textos em Português e outros textos em Inglês, eu preciso dos textos em Português do Brasil.
O marcelocripe me mostrou algumas vezes os modelos de textos que ele criou para o antiX e para nós Brasileiros, eu digo que eu preciso destes textos para compreender facilmente o antiX. Eu sou iniciante no uso de computadores e preciso muito do antiX com textos em Português do Brasil.
O marcelocripe sempre posta orientações no grupo de WhatsApp do “antiX Linux em Português”, ele sempre pede sugestões de modelos de textos que todos nós podemos compreender, ele sempre orienta a atualizar todos os dias antiX, hoje aconteceu de os textos dos menus ficarem em Inglês. Por favor, aceitem as traduções que o marcelocripe faz para o antiX voluntariamente. Vocês podem atender os meu pedido?
Eu agradeço pelo antiX e por deixar o meu computador muito rápido e excelente.

I saw what happened, I’m so sorry about that… And I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, the texts of the translations are not yet available for use in antiX from Transifex contribs or GitLab contribs, I try to keep it them identical.

The texts of the antiX Applications submenus are provided by the .desktop files that are in the /usr/share/applications and /usr/share/applications/antix folders. Several .desktop files are not the responsibility of the antiX development team and are much more difficult for me to find the person responsible for the program (package) for me to provide the texts of our Brazilian Portuguese language to them. As for the .desktop files that are the responsibility of the antiX development team, I always ask them to look for and use the latest Transifex translations (the antiX translation site and programs developed by the antiX community). Hopefully, the administrators will use the translations that are available on GitLab contribs for use in antiX, this site has the translation of several languages ​​(including Brazilian Portuguese) for the benefit of thousands of people across planet Earth. I firmly believe that this day will come and that we will have antiX much easier to understand with all the texts we discuss and build in Telegram, WhatsApp and in person groups.

Linuxdaddy, the program that is called by the antiX menu > Applications/Applications > antiX > User language > (A window appears with a text on how to collaborate with the antiX translation, we close this window and another window appears) > we click on the button “Localize Programs”, then another window lists all the programs that can be translated into Brazilian Portuguese. We did this process and I added some .mo files manually for the translation of some standard ISO full programs.
But after today’s update, the texts of the GenericName and/or Comment entries from the .desktop files have been included. When the .desktop files have the [pt_BR] entries, the texts are displayed in Brazilian Portuguese language which is very good for most people. But when there are no entries [pt_BR], the texts that are displayed are in English, causing more confusion than helping, as was the intention of the subject addressed in this topic A few easy suggestions from watching video reviews, which in short deals with ways to make antiX more didactic.

Teotonio, read the antiX manual created by PPC, he gave me this gift that I adapted it to our Brazilian Portuguese language, I put a copy in your Documents folder. Also read the various tutorials that are in the Portuguese language area here on the forum.

Eu vi o que aconteceu, eu lamento muito por isso… E compreendo a sua frustração. Infelizmente ainda não são os textos das traduções que estão disponíveis para uso no antiX do Transifex contribs ou do GitLab contribs, eu tento mantê-los idênticos.

Os textos dos submenus Aplicativos do antiX, são fornecidos pelos arquivos .desktop que estão na pasta /usr/share/applications e /usr/share/applications/antix. Vários arquivos .desktop não são de responsabilidade da equipe de desenvolvimento do antiX e são muito mais difíceis para eu conseguir encontrar o responsável pelo programa (pacote) para eu fornecer os textos do nosso idioma Português do Brasil para eles. Mas após a atualização de hoje, foi incluído os textos das entradas GenericName e/ou Comment dos arquivos .desktop. Neste fórum, só não aprende quem não quer, possuem boas pessoas que sempre ajudam compartilhando o seu conhecimento.

We do our very best to have the translations included in an antiX community translations package soon. Some scripts need to get written or adapted to allow this working fluently without breaking default translation files installed by default debian packages present on the system. Once this is settled you’ll see all of Marcelo’s translations immediately, all his hard volunteer work is highly appreciated. You have to understand: antiX is driven completely volunteer by its developers, so everybody who uses it can contribute to it whatever he is able to best if he/she likes to see some details improved. So it’s not about not willing to fulfill your request of including Marcelo’s translated texts, but it’s about there is some difficult work and extensive testing to be done before it will reach the users’ systems. The improvement of antiX translation is a community side project we’ve started, with the support and consent of the antiX devs.

You can already use the translations personally, when asking Marcelo for the desktop files set he has already fixed. Simply copy them in the place where the default ones live in your system (Marcelo knows the proper folders and copy commands), and immediately you’ll have on your PC all his translations. But this is not the proper way we can use on everybody’s PC, since the files will get overwritten on every system or program update again and again, you will have to restore the special versions after each of these updates repeatedly. And when trying to package the translations files separately, apt installer will complain during installation about overwriting files owned by other packages. Once we’ve solved this problem by using alternative installation folders allowing to switch between the default translation files set owned by the original packages and the improved set it will no longer be necessary to copy the translations manually in place after each update.

I do hope you can tolerate the inconvenience until finally everything will be set up properly.
