Hi
I have just installed Antix 32bit to a 10zig thin client to use as a samba server and spare machine. I have only had time for a quick explore but I am really liking the responsiveness and features.
I used to use puppy Linux for many years, but it looks like the support has dropped off a lot since I have been away.
Anyway, looking forward to getting stuck in and no doubt coming up with a few questions.- This topic was modified 1 year, 7 months ago by Gary101.

::Welcome, Gary
According to my experience, antiX can make almost any existing computer run, and run as fast as possible- even using a Windows XP 32 bits laptop, as I tested recently, I can run a modern web browser, watch youtube and run Libreoffice… If you don’t mind a lot of lag, you can even watch full hd movies, if you configure mpv right. For using as a server, I’m betting antiX performs extremely well too.
I’ve tested puppy too, it’s a nice distro (ideal if you need to run it from RAM, on a system with little RAM), but it doesn’t feel like a full featured OS, like antiX is…P.

::Welcome. Let us know if we can help with anything.
There is less and less support for 32bits from software developers, so you will have find alternatives for some programs if you are looking for them.

::Hi Gary, welcome to antiX from a person Thatcher called traitors for running away,
have full fuel tank and supermarket shelves here are pretty much same as always.
Full, unable to understand how brits can put up with the crap from trumps little shadow.

There is less and less support for 32bits from software developersRead about a recent survey which showed 32 bit computing is still more common than 64.
Not just in regard to controllers robotics and embedded devices.
I think that companys are trying to get support dropped to make more profits, and incidentaly
damage many less rich countrys as well as the environment.- This reply was modified 1 year, 7 months ago by ModdIt.

Welcome to antiX forum.
I am also still discovering new possibilities, antiX linux is really great.
I wish you the best of luck.-I find capitalism repugnant. It is filthy, it is gross, it is alienating... because it causes war, hypocrisy and competition-

::Gary101, welcome to antix – I’m sure you’ll really enjoy the experience.
@Moddit – I’m one of those who ran away too, during the Thatcher era, to find work, joining the ‘brain drain’ out of the UK at the time (I’m assuming what I have between my ears counts as a brain). The reason “brits can put up with the crap from trumps little shadow” is because, very sadly, there’s absolutely no party that’s fit enough to oppose him; so we just have to put up with his hollow bluster. Labour haven’t got their act together – the party seems to have imploded bit-by-bit over the last 11 years …
Sorry Gary101, for that moan-y interlude – welcome again !
