Hi everyone. My name is Zygmunt and I come from Poland. I’m 33 yo.
My experience with computers is – C64, and Amiga 500 in the 90′ (when i was a kid), Windows 95.
Since ~2002 untill now i was using Windows XP, but due the policies of google and microsoft (YouTube doesn’t work properly since there is no real Chrome for XP etc.) I had to figure out something alternative to use the Internet. So i’ve decided to check out Linux. I’ve had licked it a bit earlier (Mandriva? can’t even remember the distro πŸ˜‰ ) to manage partitions etc.
My machine is old – athlon processor, radeon 9600, 4GB RAM (but the machine reads only 3,2GB). At least it has SATA2 πŸ™‚ Also I have a netbook ACER AOD270 (1GB RAM πŸ™ and it’s so slooooow). That is why I decided to install AntiX on both of my machines.
At the moment I see myself as an “almost newbie”.
I think that would be all πŸ™‚
Best regards to all of you good people πŸ™‚

Hi! Welcome. If you need any help, ask around, but first read the “manual” that comes in the Menu… πŸ™‚
Also, look around the “Tips” part of the forum… There’s even some stuff I wrote there, aimed at newbies like:
        https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/how-to-installing-new-applications-on-antix/#post-8781

that may be handy if you are not sure how Linux applications are installed…

            Greetings and welcome to antiX!

The antiX distribution works well with a lot of different hardware, particularly older hardware.

I’ve been using antiX since the initial test versions of the early 2000s. I believe that May 2005 was when I spotted the first test version. I’ve tested early versions and used our stable software for many years.

I hope you enjoy antiX. Feel free to ask questions in the forum and if you have any ideas or suggestions the forum is also a good place to discuss whatever interests you have in antiX.

Do check out the various topics and sections of the forum.

            Best wishes
