::Hi. From what I can see from your computer’s specs, it’s not that powerful, it’s a single core 1599Mhz CPU. Youtube (with quality of 360p or above) or any other complex web site (Ex: gmail, etc) can be slow and, yes, take up 100% of your CPU. That’s just how the modern web is- it can be very heavy for a single core computer (the ideal minimum for the modern web, in my experience is at least 2 cores with 2 Gb of RAM)
My advice? For youtube, use the tools provided by antix, like smtube (it streams youtube videos without the need for a browser) and also use lighter web browsers, like Seamonkey and Palemoon.
Please take a look at a recent post about 32bits browsers here in the forum.P.

::I saw another person complain the other day because antiX has more than one way to watch a Youtube video.
If he was trying to do it on an old computer he would be happy we had a second way that works well for old machines, not just the newer ones.
I’m glad it works well for you, now 🙂

::I haven’t used youtube for quite a few years. Has anyone ever compared youtube’s cpu and memory usage to one of the invidious instances like invidious.snopyta.org, or piped.kavin.rocks? They seem to work great for me with the Pale Moon browser, especially piped. Although they may be showing a lower resolution than youtube, I don’t know as I don’t pay attention to resolution.
Also odysee.com videos always play well for me, and most youtubers that I follow put their videos on odysee. I wonder if odysee would compare well to youtube regarding resource usage.

::The HW you use is very much on the low-end side.
I experience high CPU usage with 2-cores AMD Phenom II CPU and several GB memory.
Sometimes, I am interested in sound/listening only and I switch to another tab in the browser and not displaying the video reduces the CPU usage.
