After each boot up, and even after a logout/login cycle, the master volume is set at 45%. This is not nearly loud enough: 90% would me more appropriate.

Some googling around suggested the command ‘sudo alsactl store’ to save the current sound settings as the new defaults, but this didn’t work. The sound configuration files are a real jungle and I’m afraid to experiment blindly.

I also noted that changing the pcm level in Alsa Mixer has no effect on sound volume anymore. This was definitely not the case right after Antix17 installation. But in the mean time I also installed Clementine, and that seems to bring with it a whole new bunch of audio stuff that complicates matters.

I have no idea if it has been disabled in stock antix or not… however in -/.desktop-session/desktop-session.conf should be an option for enable setting the startup volume and to what level you would like the volume at.

The STARTUP_SOUND_LEVEL is in yor home in the hidden desktop-session folder in the desktop-session.conf file.
This is new since antiX17 I think.
          ups, Dave was faster.

That was quick! Thank you both.

I keep forgetting to check User Desktop-Session in Control Center. I guess because it doesn’t mention ‘Edit’ on the button…
