Yesterday, in the morning, the laptop worked without problems (Antix Linux 22). In the evening, after turning it on, I found out that there is no connection: neither wired nor wireless. When trying to start Connman gives the following message:

      CMST – Critical Error
Unable to find a connection to the system bus.
CMST will not be able to communicate with connman.

What to do next – I have no idea.

Thanks to everyone who paid attention to my problem.

Hum… Did you try to restart your computer and see if connman works?
Also, so folks here know your hardware, try to post the result of this command (the more relevant part is the Network):
        inxi -Fxz -r

Also rfkill status is good to check.

Yes, rebooted, nothing changed. I am attaching screenshots:

There was a bug that caused this – please try following the instructions on this thread: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/cmst-critical-error/

There’s always the possibility that there’s a problem with the network hardware, but I don’t think that causes the connman error you report… Can you boot from a live system and see if you have internet working that way?

No, there are no problems with network equipment: when working from a live disk, the Internet works via wifi

Is this runit or sysvinit version?
You could try to switch to ceni with antix wifi switcher
                      menu > application < antix > antix-wifi-switch

I recommend doing that, check if you have Intenet and then switch back to connman and check for Internet again…

Tried everything that was written in the article, nothing helped.
                          This command:
                          sudo apt install --reinstall resolvconf
did not help, because there is no Internet.
                          Here
                          sudo service dbus start
                          shows
                          dbus: unrecognized service

Deleted folders and files from /etc/sv/*, nothing changed.

So, for now – no changes.

In the past we had issues with Connman and the cmst program it uses; sometimes using the ” antiX wifi switch – tool to choose which wifi manager to use. Default is connman, ceni available.”

Alternating one or two times between connman and ceni, using this tool, has solved issues in the past. Try it and see if one or the other network manager provides service. The script has some logic that will automatically fix SOME of the problems that were seen in the past.

Thank you, after changing the manager to CENI, everything worked, but the inscription from the last screenshot lasted for several minutes, instead of seconds, so I did not wait long, I closed this screen…

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone!

Thanks to CENI it worked, but:
                                1. After a reboot, there is no automatic connection, and all manipulations with CENI must be carried out from the beginning (with the search for SSID and entering the password).
                                2. CONNMAN still does not work, and the error itself:

Once upon a time, I figured out how to automatically select my provider, service, and connection even when using Ceni, but I’ve long forgotten the details. For me, I’m usually able to use connman without having to alternate on some, but not all of my systems. Not too long ago I was forced to use ceni (Ceni usually works too; I think there is either a hard link or an alias between the capitalized and non capitalized name).

You may want to try that antiX wifi switch again in the future and see if connman / cmst will handle the connection. It’s important to use that antiX Wifi switch program because it takes care of ensuring that only one of the network manager tools is running, and it adjusts any settings when switching to avoid network manager conflicts. Ceni is pretty reliable, but connman is a bit easier to use by default.
