Budgie
I am trying to set up a basic firewall and as usual do not know what I am doing. Using antiX Control Centre > Network > Manage Firewall I find the firewall appears to be inactive. If I press the unlock button the status changes to “on” but if I then close the firewall after seeing some basic filters it appears to turn off.
If I select Help from the Firewall window all I appear to get is a File Manager window opened at root. Here is the beginners info requested:-$ inxi -zv7 System: Host: antix1 Kernel: 4.9.126-antix.1-486-smp i686 bits: 32 compiler: gcc v: 6.3.0 Desktop: IceWM 1.4.2 info: icewmtray dm: SLiM 1.3.4 Distro: antiX-17.2_386-full Helen Keller 4 October 2018 base: Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) Machine: Type: Laptop System: IBM product: 2373Q91 v: ThinkPad T42 serial: <filter> Chassis: type: 10 serial: <filter> Mobo: IBM model: 2373Q91 serial: <filter> BIOS: IBM v: 1RETDRWW (3.23 ) date: 06/18/2007 Battery: ID-1: BAT0 charge: 47.8 Wh condition: 48.6/47.5 Wh (102%) volts: 12.4/10.8 model: SANYO IBM-92P1137 type: Li-ion serial: <filter> status: Unknown Memory: RAM: total: 1002.4 MiB used: 639.8 MiB (63.8%) RAM Report: permissions: Unable to run dmidecode. $If I could get to some basic help pages that would be useful but no Documentation or on-line help appear.
Grateful for some guidance when you have time please.

.
The commit containing the patch is here: https://github.com/antix-skidoo/gufw-jessie/commit
I’m not motivated to check whether it is still applicable to whatever version of gufw is shipped with antiX nowadaysFebruary 2, 2019 at 6:11 pm #18405Moderator

::Yes, the gui of ufw firewall is irritating
But like mentioned above you can see if everything is running with
sudo ufw statusIf I select Help from the Firewall window all I appear to get is a File Manager window opened at root
You are right , if ufw is unlocked and clicking on the help-button–>documentation , Spacefm opens as root. That’s a strange behavior.
