Grinnng because everything is running fine now so no errors will show. I used those commands to give you a idea of what to look for through old logs when the system froze.
In other words. Old style trouble shooting with elbow grease applied. Pencil. Paper. Write down info from inxi readout . Look for errors relating to inxi output in old dmesg logs when the system froze.

After looking over your post again. Unplug that sdb Kingston usb drive and see if freezing goes away.
Edit: had to go to page one and make sure this usb drive is not running the computer. I know inxi now shows different but I wanted to be sure.

Wow! this is interesting – lots of Wifi errors! The Kingston USB was to backup all of my findings in case it freezes again. Removed it and will let you know what turns up on closer inspection.

Wifi errors are pretty normal when wlan0 is mentioned. Which is software errors. Not hardware errors

How to Search for AntiX solutions to your problemsWhen I first got this T450s
, I ran MX and antiX from external hard drives to check the device as much as I could without installing an internal disk, to stay on the safe side. Now, I don’t recall when or where the first freeze happened, think it was on May 7, but really cannot say for sure. There were a few apps and a browser open at the time. I installed Win8.1 on sda 1&2, MX on sda3, antiX on sda5 and sda6.3 installations and 3 freezes. The device that I had transferred the snapshots from that I used for the installs, was a T420, which has a lot more and different features, ie optical drive, caps lock indicator, night light, and in some areas, has fewer features, no built in battery and external battery, 3.0 usb etc, etc.
I am wondering if the first freeze occurred either on the first antiX sda5 or an external drive and all 3 occurred in a separate installation. MX froze 2nd and antiX on sda6 was 3rd.
So maybe the system panicked looking for stuff that isn’t there – is that possible? And maybe it was something that will happen once on each partition it is installed on.
As an experiment, I will install another antiX on another partition and see if it eventually freezes.
It’s strange that I have been on this device all day, very actively using the very same applications and modes as when it froze and nothing has gone awry.

Looks like the freeze in xsession file stopped after removing the USB device.The only file with date and time was syslog and eveything in the time prior to the freeze [May 14 20:25:23] is all dhclient, bluetooth,wlan and wifi related, except the entries listed below and nothing stands out.
Dmesg has no dates on entries and there is no dmesg.old that I could find.
The freezing related entries might have to do with “suspend” – I suspend often as I usually have 2 laptops open at the same time.
I don’t have systemd in MX or antiX.

After days pouring over seemingly endless logs and online searches regarding the entries, until bleary-eyed, tried Xubuntu and Ubuntu, which crashed more rapidly and frequently than MX or antiX. Collected all the system logs, etc, to compare – loads of errors and fails, a lot of dbus entries. Everything, and nothing specific.
Then went into the fully installed, stripped and configured Windows 8.1 to update it for May, got a distorted abstract screen which eventually turned to a blank screen, which after a very, very, long time, started the process of loading Windows OS.
I previously attempted to install Windows 7, so I would not waste 8.1 on a newly purchased device, because unlike MX and antiX, it cannot be used on another PC. This also had a very distorted screen that was blurry, abstract and had behaved the same as 8.1.
As I do not use Windows except to install the security updates and use a few off-line applications for hard drive/flashdrive diagnostics, repair and configuring, no idea if it would be displaying the same behavior as Linux, if actually run.
The point is that after seeing the random distorted screen for a 3rd time in Windows, freezes and fails in MX, antiX, Ubuntu and Xubuntu, whether installed internally or on a USB external hard drive, it is time to return this laptop to the seller. As intermittent issues are hard to prove, had to be sure and think I am convinced that it is hardware related – my guess is motherboard/graphics. It is integrated/onboard and not going to attempt to replace that…
Anyway I wholly appreciate all the effort you put into trying to help, as the knowledge gained, is a big plus.
