Hello antiX! I wanted to say hi and pass on that I’ve been using MX for quite some time and after I got a new laptop and decided to move to an M.2 SSD as well as an additional SATA SSD I decided I’d try out antiX before going straight back to MX as I did when it was just the new laptop.
I’m really impressed with how easy you’ve made working with a window-manager as opposed to a desktop-environment like I’m used to. On this laptop, Cinnamon is pretty damn quick, gnome is a bit slower, and xfce is very fast and what I thought would always be the fastest. I have to say that I’m pleasantly shocked how much faster my already speedy Acer is when using IceWM!
Does anyone know where, and how, to download and install jew IceWM themes? I found great themes for MX using xfce-look. Is there something similar for IceWM? What about a way to convert an xfwm theme I made into something that would work for Ice?
Now that I’ve asked that, I’m realizing that I’m going to end up asking many more questions soonish so I’ll stop here for now and just say once again that I’m really impressed with AntiX and am looking forward to learning about linux’s more advanced features with your distro. If it ends up being a little too difficult to just use a wm not a de I can always install xfce or simply go back to MX.

hundreds of iceWM themes available for download here: opendesktop.org :: category: iceWM themes
After downloading e.g. “NewlyDownloadedTheme.tar.xz”, to have the theme available globally (accessible by all user accounts),
copy AsRoot the contents extracted from the archivefile to/usr/share/icewm/themes/NewlyDownloadedTheme
The theme will be immediately available when you visit
iceWM desktop menu }} Themes }} (e.g. NewlyDownloadedTheme)
Clicking the menu entru for NewlyDownloadedTheme will select/apply it
