As the title says I managed to revive an old celeron laptop with 512 mb ram thanks to antix 19.2. It is not the first try with antix but this time I managed it and I think that this happened due to os improvements. Anyway in case that someone will read this post I would to ask if there is any 32bit crypto miner program that I could install in antix 19.2 and give me some advice. I would like to do that basically for the fun and for the knowledge. Thank you in advance and happy to be here.

Welcome to the antiX forum! Hope you can give some extra life to your old computer.

About cryptomining, I think it will not be possible for such a limited hardware (based on this website), but I am no expert.
See if this article can help.

I think thta computer can do better things than cryptomining, but as you say, this is for learning purposes, so your experiments can lead you to other things.

            Hi Gekampo,

            Welcome to antiX Linux.

It is very good that you share your experience in the use of antiX and also inform the computer hardware, all that remains is to inform the processor speed. If you have other test results that you have done on this computer using other Linux distributions you can share your experiences at the link: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/system-requirements-for-antix-and-other- debians /

Gekampo, you happen to be referring to the antiX installation step where you have the option to encrypt the HDD or to HDD partitions, the text is similar to this: “You must choose a separate boot partition when encrypting root.” LUKS?

Remember to check the option “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”, so you will receive a message in your email to inform you when someone replied in the topic you started or that you are participating in the conversations.

You must choose a separate boot partition when encrypting root.” do LUKS?

Lembre-se de marcar a opção “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”, assim você receberá uma mensagem no seu e-mail para te informar quando alguém respondeu no tópico que você iniciou ou que você esteja participando das conversas.

Thank you for the welcome. It is an Acer travelmate 2350 and with antix works. The cpu and memory load is almost always above 90% but I can have chromium with TWO tabs open. As soon as I will find time I will try to install the wireless driver which for this model is a problem.

Hi and welcome! As I always say to people with devices low on RAM- for browsing, try badwolf (you can install it with sudo apt install badwolf)- it’s very barebones, without an home page or favorites, but it you click the “JS” button, to be able to load pages with java script, it opens almost any modern webpage you throw at it- like youtube. gmail, outlook, etc, etc… – The simplest way to make it more usable is editing it’s .desktop (/usr/share/applications/badwolf.desktop) file to execute “badwolf http://www.google.com ” or “badwolf duckduckgo.com” instead of simply “badwolf”. The browser uses very little RAM, and allows for fast browsing even on very old devices (I’m not sure if it uses less CPU than Chromium)

                P.
