Hi, brand new to Antix. Is there a way to hide the boot log and error messages when the computer boots out of grub? I was able to do this in Linux Mint but can’t figure it out for this.

      Thanks

You wish to run a splash screen is what you are asking? Like MX linux does.

        What version of antiX? Full,Base,Core?

Need more info. Post a inxi -zv7 so we can take a look at your install.

Yeah, some combination of a splash screen and/or redirected console boot messages to a file or /dev/null would do it.

I’ll post that tomorrow when I get a chance. It’s the full version of Antix on an ancient HP laptop.

I think I was able to eliminate SOME of the messages by editing my grub.cfg file by adding the “quiet splash loglevel=3” command and updating with sudo update-grub. My understanding is that the higher the number, the more information gets shown. Is that about right? So could I reduce that down to 1 or 0?

A splash screen would be nice I suppose if it doesn’t slow down the boot is that possible? For some reason I thought it wasn’t an option. I just don’t think I need to see all the logs when it boots up, it’s not like you can actually read them anyway!
