Hi. I’ve installed antiX package 21 on a 2008 Macbook with the intent to use it as a homebridge server. I’ve managed to install everything but when trying open the Web UI of Homebridge it simply does nothing.

In the terminal I try sudo hb-service status which returns Testing hb-service is running on port ####; Homebridge UI Not Running.

I then tried sudo hb-service start which then returns /usr/local/bin/hb-service: line 46: systemctl: command not found.

Could someone help with the issue with systemctl and how to go about fixing this. I’m a complete newbie so step-by-step would be appreciated.

        Hi,

‘systemctl’ is CLI tool to manage ‘systemd’ services.
antiX is systemd-free, hence there is no ‘systemctl’ to be found.

I would advise to find alternative to Homebridge tool (see e.g. https://alternativeto.net/software/homebridge/) that does not expect ‘systemd/systemctl’ to be present.

Or you could attempt a hack which would require you to acquire some knowledge about services in your antiX installation (depends on the init, e.g. ‘sysvinit’ or ‘runit’):
        0) Backup the file ‘/usr/local/bin/hb-service’ (as root)
        1) Find all occurrences of ‘systemctl’ in the file ‘/usr/local/bin/hb-service’ and edit them to replace calls of ‘systemctl’ with appropriate equivalents (I am aware that this is a very vague formulation).
        2) Start the ‘hb-service’.
If it works, great! If not, more work needs to be done.

Any update will most likely erase those modifications as the edited file is expected to be rewritten.
Therefore you would have to repeat the above mentioned procedure.
