I have an old HP Mini 110 netbook (Atom N270 CPU) with Win XP on it. Alongside XP I installed Peppermint, but it was just too slow. I then tried a live boot of Antix and it worked well.
I wanted to keep XP and install Antix, so I used GParted during the Antix install to delete only the sda2 partition with Peppermint on it. Unfortunately this messed up my XP partition and I had to use a third party program (boot-repair-disk) to get XP back.
The attached pic shows the partitions in the Antix install as well as “A root partition of at least 5.0 GB is required” error which I can’t seem to circumvent.
More detailed info on my issue was posted previously in a thread I started on Linux.org.
How do I proceed without damaging the XP partition again?
Thanks.

::In the column where it says “Use for”, on sda2 you need to pull it down and select “root”

::Sorry, I just realized that the previous photo I posted is out of date. In the process of fixing the Windows XP issue with Boot-Repair-Disk, I resized the partition with GParted in an attempt to give me more space for the antiX install. That resulted in the partitions in the new photo below.
As shown, I can pull down the “Use For” selection for sda1 (XP), but that same selection is unavailable for sda (currently unformatted). I’m not sure where to go from here…

::You want to leave the xp partition alone (don’t use it as root, home or swap – leave it blank). On the far upper right it looks like a way to create a partition – the plus sign. According to the latest screenshot, you don’t have any partitions for antiX yet. So make one for root. You’ll probably want one also for swap, and possibly for home.

::Note also, that “sda” refers to the whole hdd. You’ll need sda2, etc., created for use with antiX.
Sda is not unformated. It contains your xp partition currently. (Do not format it!)
