I have antix19core-LXDE, running on an Intel Atom netbook, where it’s installed on its SSD – it’s very stable & runs really well.
However, I would like to enable autologin, so that I don’t have to enter my username & password each time the machine boots.
In an attempt to do this, first I accessed the slim.conf file through terminal:
      sudo gedit /usr/local/share/live-files/general-files/etc/slim.conf

However, the editing I did doesn’t seem to have worked – I still get asked for username & password on booting.
I’ve indicated the bits I’ve edited by my commentary in square brackets [….] :

      # Focus the password field on start when default_user is set
      # Set to "yes" to enable this feature
focus_password no [changed from 'yes' to 'no']

      # Automatically login the default user (without entering
      # the password. Set to "yes" to enable this feature
      auto_login yes

      # default user, leave blank or remove this line
      # for avoid pre-loading the username.
      # default_user demo [changed from 'uncommented' to 'commented']

      # current theme, use comma separated list to specify a set to
      # randomly choose from
      current_theme antiX

      # Lock file
      lockfile /var/run/slim.lock

      # Log file
      logfile /var/log/slim.log

Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me with this – much appreciated.

I think maybe default_user should be your username, (I usually set this when installing), but it can be set up through the Control Centre.

        Linux (& BSD) since 1999

On an installed system, edit /etc/slim.conf

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
