In /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts the name is set but the console/terminal will not pick it up resulting in delay “hostname not set” error.
Is this set somewhere in openrc scripts?
I used the minimal net-install when I installed it and I doubt I didn’t provide one, but maybe I changed it and this is causing the confusion as what is set in the two above files doesn’t match?

This was caused by a bug in the net-install iso (and in core version as well).

$ hostnameor
$ sudo hostnameseemed to have cured the problem
The first time I rebooted it was gone again, but the 2nd time it stuck. I hate it when digital systems are temperamental 🙂 Maybe the first time I used user without root privileges.
