      Hello everyone.
I’m a new antiX user (although been using linux for some years now). I’m trying to restore an old P4 laptop with 256ram for a friend.
I installed antix-core and installed whatever package I needed on top of that. Everything is nice and smooth for what I need, however I can’t seem to find the correct packages to install in order to have a fully updated menu each time I install a program via apt. I know this is working correctly in antix-base which I have previously installed but I wanted to keep things minimal with that hardware in hand, so I reinstalled antix-core.

Could someone please provide me with the minimal set of packages needed to have auto updating menus for icewm/jwm for all users?

Thanks for the awesome distro btw.

        Hello.

On a different topic, I provided this solution.

        4. Making Applications menu repopulate will require you to install these packages:
        sudo apt install desktop-defaults-base-antix xdg-utils python-gtk2 python-xdg desktop-session-antix
I may be missing some other package, but I think this is all you need for the applications menu to update (with “Update” menu entry and every time you install a new app, it will update the applications menu automatically).

If you are using icewm or jwm, you may also need to install the desktop-defaults-icewm-antix and desktop-defaults-jwm-antix packages, to have the menus exactly like antiX default base system.

Apart from this, you may need to copy /etc/skel/.jwm and /etc/skel/.icewm folders to your home folders (make a backup of the folders in your home folder in case you have already changed things on menus or preferences).

If you still have problems, let us know and I will try to figure it out.

        Welcome to antiX!
