I have two laptops, 1 with antix and 1 with MX. the antix laptop died and I pulled the hdd out of it and plugged it in the MX box, as the antix was on a SSD and the MX was old disc drive.
now the box refuses to boot, says no bootable device found. when I go in bios I see that it shows the ssd there in the boot devices.
what do I need to make it boot from the newly plugged ssd?
is this fixable from bios or I need to load antix from a usb?
Thanks everybody in this great community.

I would try booting from a USB, and then try “Boot repair” from the menu.

Try running antiX from Live USB and running Gparted. Make sure the partitions are in good shape. You may also try to “mount” the SSD using zzzFM.
Take note of the device name, i.e. /dev/sdX. Then run Boot repair as advised by punranger and make sure to select the correct device for the grub.

Muchachos,
I discovered what is the problem: EFI. the old laptop did not have EFI and the newer one has. so, the ssd from the old laptop did not have EFI and the newer box wants to have EFI. I am creating an EFI partition and that should help it boot.
