Hello folks.
My computer is being used by other people now. Therefore, I need a more friendly login manager, which lists the available users and window managers. The problem is, I don’t know how to change. Also, it would be really cool to have any DM suggestions to use. The best reference that I have found is this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Display_manager
I’m using Marielle Franco.
Thanks for your help- This topic was modified 3 years ago by aledosim.

::Do you know of one that has those options?
Once you find it, see if its in the repos
If its in the repos, then you could search for it here to see if someone else here has tried it with antiX, etc
Did you already try searching here and on the net?

::I would suggest investigating lightdm.
I found a screenshot showing a pulldown on the user name on the login screen.
https://www.noobslab.com/2013/12/a-new-look-for-lightdm-install-lightdm.htmlI’ve never tried it myself on antiX. The question is will there be issues and how much effort would it take to configure.

::Hey BobC
I’ve searched for display manager and login manager in general. Already know that lightDM have this features (I use it on my main PC with MX) as well as GDM and LXDM appears to have too. I think the resources on this topic are a little confuse and needed some guidance. Your suggestion with the search terms already helped me.
Thanks a lot.April 19, 2020 at 6:34 pm #35042Member

::Ok, I was able to do this with antiX19.2.1 386 base. In general, I installed the lightdm from the command line and changed it to be the defaul, and changed its config to show the names list.
sudo apt update sudo apt dist-upgrade sudo apt install lightdm lightdm-gtk-greeter lightdm-gtk-greeter-settingsAfter that I had to edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf to uncomment the line to allow it to show multiple names with a pulldown
sudo geany /etc/lightdm/lightdm.confI uncommented the highlighted line shown in the pic by removing the # and saved the file. After that I went to control centre on the maintenance tab and added a user. Then I took the logout option and told it to reboot.
I know that worked from a fresh install, but don’t know how to implement it once other packages are installed that might affect it, like lxdm.
