Hi, I just helped a friend install AntiX17.1 full 64, and we tried to use wicd to connect initially, and by mistake I told him to type the user password, not the root password. From then on, if we try to run any control center option requiring root access, we get an incorrect password response.

We couldn’t get into user-management either, but we were able to run it from a terminal and reset the password, and we rebooted too, but we still can’t run any administrator authority required options from control center or menus, but can run them from the terminal just fine.

And what is REALLY weird is that if we use sudo the correct password is invalid, but with su the correct password works.

Any ideas how to fix it, please?

        TIA 🙂

When prompted for a password via a gui app, the default is to type your USERNAME password, not root’s.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
