Hi, people! I have just installed the lovely AntiX 1932 bit on my netbook.
During the install process was selected automatically a Kernel, that was installed without problem. And it works good enough.
Finishing to install also some package (programs I want to use), I have also installed (using Synaptic) the kernel 5.2.8 i486 to try to replace with it the kernel I had in heritage from the installation into the Hard Disk. I have installed bot the packages: the headers and the image. Thbis because I have see that my newly installed Grub Costumizer seems to be a little stubborn and want not to collaborate with me (my Grub Costumizer simply refuse to start). Because of this, I want to see is installing a more new Kernel my Grub Costumizer appreciate and will become a bit more collaborative.
But, at any new start on my netbook the Kernel that are loaded is always the old Kernel and not the last I have installed.
Of course, I have NOT uninstalled the old kernel to can use it again if the new kernel will give me too problems.
But how can I to see if my newly installed kernel work bad or well if it is never loaded at the start of my System?
So, I ask to you for help. Surely all you know how to have loaded the more recent kernel instead of the older. Can you, please, tall how to solve my actual little problem? Thank you in advance for your appreciate help.January 2, 2020 at 4:41 am #31384Anonymous

::Thank you, people! I have uninstalled Grub-Customizer as you suggest. I don’t need to repair my Grub2 (that is installed on MBR) because it give its duty. I hoped to can use Grub-Customizer to configure Grub2 after a new installation I have in mind to do on the same Hard Disk (I have prepared a 32 Gb Partition to do it). Of course, now I can’t use Grub-Custommizer to edit my Grub2, so I will have to find, maybe, some other way to handle at the best the situation (at least I will erase Grub2 from the MBR installing into MBR, instead, the boot-manager GAG, while to start Antix it’s possible (but I’m not sure of this) to install GrubLegacy (I exclude Grub2, because Grub-Customizer don’t work… and I really hate to use Terminal and also the command line) on the root partition where Antix is.
For now, I have an other problem, very different. I delayed to start the new Kernel (I suspect your suggestion about this is right, but at moment, an other problem is born and it require all my attention).
After I installs Antix-19 32bit on my netbook (a Packer Bell dot s) at first I had no internet connection at all (using the Fluxbox desktop). After, using XFCE4 as desktop, I had the ethernet internet connection and the possibility to update my System and install new packages. But at the same time I had some error message at any new start of the System. For example to help me configuring all connection (and I have tried to obtain it, because using Network Manager I will obtain the Ethernet connection, but with 2 icons into the tray [strange thing]. And using Connman I have the Wifi connection, but also 3 identical connman icons into my tray [much bizarre]). To avoid all these icons-presence into my tray, I have decided to use only Ceni. But Ceni give me some error message about the presence of other connection managers that disturb its work during the start of my system. So, I have uninstalled these connection manager, and select to use only Ceni.
I had to configure Ceni without any problem, and Ceni say to me that my connections atre OK both (Ethertet and also Wi-Fi). But it isn’t true. In fact, at moment I have both connection officially working, but no way to connect the Internet. So I cannot reinstall the packages I have uninstalled to can have Ceni as my default connection-manager. I hope to can find some way to can use again my ethernet connection (because, if I can connect via ethernet, I have the possibility to re-install the packages I have uninstalled to pleased Ceni). After I will be again able to connect to the Internet some-way, I will be pleased to can use and test the new kernel.
Of course, I’m very glad to you for your appreciate replies to my help request. Thank you very much, peaple!January 3, 2020 at 10:35 am #31414Moderator

::monsee, no offense, but it’s really too tiring to read and understand your posts when you use paragraphs so rarely..
Nevertheless, I think I have understood that you tried to use ceni instead of connman.
