      Hi community,

How do I please check in Antix the current release name or version ?
If I do a lsb_release -a I just get the release of the underlying Debian version ?

Also how do I preform a full upgrade to next release please ?

      Thx, blub4747

        1. cat /etc/antix-version

        2. What version are you using?

Usually sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade

will get you up to date.

You may need to manually install/remove some apps (if you wish)

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

            Hello,
I installed AntiX using the antiX-19_386-full.iso file burned to a DVD. It seems to be running fine. I read on the 19.2 page that there is, “No need to download if using antiX-19(.x).” I take this to mean that my installation can be updated in place to 19.2. However, I have tried — multiple times — to run the AntiX updater and the Forum Admin’s suggestion above to run “sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade”. The latter suggestion results in a message saying my installation is up-to-date. Still, my /etc/antix-version file reads “antiX-19_386-full Marielle Franco 16 October 2019”, which is not what the same file in the 19.2_386-full iso linuxfs file says. Is this normal? If so, how do I confirm that I am running AntiX 19.2?
Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Yes, the version identity remains the same in order to assist with problems.

Once I install a version. version 7 through version 19. I do not worry about point version upgrades like 19.2.

They are just bug fix releases . To ease new users coming into the club. Dist upgrade handles bugs. Hence no worries.

It was mentioned long ago about distro maintainers druthers wanting to know what you installed originally.
Plus I figure there is added work changing text files and symlinks < maybe>.

Easy enough to change 19 to 19.2 for the user if it bothers them. It don’t bother me.
Hell. I don’t even pay attention anymore.

Hello to everyone, this is the first time I am posting something on the forum, and I am giving my apologies If I am writing something wrong.
I upgrade from antiX 21 to antiX 22 (I guess I did the right thing) via command line sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade, but when I checked my antiX version with the other command line suggested cat /etc/antix-version this is the result.

Thank you in advance for any further reply from you.

                    @Richard74, you should be fine.

That isn’t supposed to change. It stays whatever was installed originally. There is nothing wrong.

Also, please create your own new threads rather than posting on one from years ago.

                      Welcome to antiX, BTW.

Thank you so much to all of you to enlighten me about my concern!
My apologies, I am pretty new with antiX, and in general with Linux.
I do not know how to create a post that is why I took the shortcut to reply on this.
I will do my research to find a tutorial out there.
My best regards to all of you,

@Richard74, it was a good question and no need to apologize.

The forum takes a bit of time to get the hang of it. Also, if searching for prior posts, I use google.com and the site parameter. For example, “site:antixforum.com [insert your question here without brackets]”.

                              Also, see this post: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/how-to-search-for-a-solution-when-you-have-a-antix-problem/

                              Welcome to antiX!
