      Greetings.

I’m new to antiX, having started with MX Linux first. Just wondering if it is possible to install the application audio-recorder which is in the MX Linux repositories.

Is it possible to add the MX repository to the /etc/apt/sources.list.d and how would I go about it?

      Thanks in advance.

      Best regards,

      DonC

        Hi.

WARNING: MX Linux, though it doesn’t default to systemd boot, requires systemd for some of its applications. Before installing an application from the MX repos make sure what packages it wants to download, install and remove.

To add MX Linux repo to your sources, you can follow these instructions:

        0. Create a file /etc/apt/preferences.d/mxlinux (to manage priorities) and add inside:

        Package: *
        Pin: release a=mx
        Pin-Priority: 100

This will give the MX repo less priority compared to the antiX and debian repos.

        1. Create the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mxlinux.list
        Add inside:
        deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo buster main non-free

        2. See if you can update without any GPG key errors.
sudo apt update && apt policy audio-recorder
I think antiX already brings the mx gpg keys registered in the system. If they aren’t, then you may have to add them manually.

Let us know how it goes.

          Hi, Xecure –

Thanks for your instructions. I got the following message :

The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 276ECD5CEF864D8F

How do I add the key in manually?

Try to get the gpg key.
            sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 276ECD5CEF864D8F

            See if this works.
            sudo apt update

Did a cut n paste and came up with lots of messages which I can’t paste into the CODE box so I just included the most relevant output:

I just followed my own steps and get this:

                  Hi, Xecure –

I did a reboot and ran apt update again and was able to locate and install audio-recorder. Strange but great!
I’ve probably messed with Repo Manager a bit previously but the reboot cleared things up.

Once again, thanks very much for your help!
