How can I install the audio driver “snd_cs46xx” in AntiX-17?
In AntiX 13.2 “Luddite” this driver worked for sound with Thinkpad 600x while the newer “Thinkpad EC” audio driver doesn’t work (speaker-test FAILS = “no sound, cannot find card ‘0’”) so I’d like to replace it with the older one but Synaptic doesn’t find anything when I search for it.
AntiX-17
inxi -Axxx Audio: Card Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24/30 [CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator] driver: Thinkpad EC bus-ID: 00:06.0 chip-ID: 1013:6003 Sound: ALSA v: k4.4.10-antix.1-486-smp.AntiX-13.2 (same inxi except):
... driver:snd_cs46xx ... ver:k3.7.10-antix.5-486-smp.I’m assuming it is the driver here not the kernel. I also tried older 4.4.10 and 4.9.11 Kernels in AntiX-17 and all still fail the same way.
Any idea how to get the audio working here?
Thanks!
AntiX 17.x:

::Here’s a page at alsa website describing those audio chips.

Just to note on older distros I had to use OSS drivers/emulation
to get crystal audio chips to work. Hope one of these sites helps.November 10, 2017 at 9:08 pm #2319Moderator

::Give the outcome of the command:
sudo amixer set Master unmute ; pactl list sinks ; lspci -v | grep -A7 -i "audio" ; lsmod
Put the info inside code brackets not to take space.- This reply was modified 5 years, 6 months ago by asinoro.
