OK, I tried this in an antiX virtual machine:
      – I downloaded the correct Debian package.
      – I extracted the file to my home folder
      – I cd to the folder. It has 3 folders (documents, packages and resources) and 1 file, install.sh
      – run install.sh:
      ./install.sh

      – the installation process begins, extracts the files, then asks you to connect your printer, then the installer asks if you want to use an USB or Network connection. If using a USB connection, select “1” and see if the installer finds your printer…

Since I don’t have a canon printer to test, I can’t help you anymore… But it should install

My install.sh file is in the following folder: /home/user/Downloads/cnijfilter2-5.50-1-deb/install.sh

How do I install/run it using the terminal?

          In your case try this:

          1- open the terminal.
          2- /home/user/Downloads/cnijfilter2-5.50-1-deb/install.sh
Since you did not provide your user, you’ll have to insert it where it says “user”, OR you could do this:

           cd ~/Downloads/
           ./cnijfilter2-5.50-1-deb/install.sh

3- the terminal should display messages about installing the driver, then ask you to connect your printer…

Unwanted advice: if you are not at all familiar with the command line, probably installing antiX full version would be a better fit for you ( using the SpaceFM file manager too, that is more handy for newbies than the default Rox. I use it myself as default file manager).

Thank you again (also for your other recommendation).
I installed it and my printer is available in the Libre office screen when printing. However, the printer doesn’t print or do anything.

Hum… Try rebooting after the install. Then, go to Control Centre > Hardware Tab > Print Settings
Right click your printer and check it’s definitions. see if “activated” (the printer icon should have a small “V”, inside a circle, over it), if it’s not locked somehow… sometimes that happens to my HP printer…
Check out if the “Definitions” Tab says the printer is “active” and try to print a test page.

So I did a reboot and now I get the following screen:

“Welcome to Antix. Powered by Debian.
                antix1 login:”

I have never seen this screen before as I chose during the installation to login to my account automatically.
And when I enter my username (called “fruit”) it asks “Password:”
When I give my password and press enter I get the following:

Last login: Mon Jun 29 19:33:41 CEST 2020 on tty1
                No mail.
                fruit@antix1:~
                $

And nothing happens after this. How do I login to my account again?

Edit: Previously in this thread caprea asked if my system was up to date. And so I did the following:
                sudo apt update
                sudo apt dist-upgrade

You probably messed something up, when you were trying to install the driver, you did something that you should not have done (hard to know what).
To try to get to your desktop try this:
                  startx

If that does not help, I recommend that you start a new thread to ask for help for your current situation OR try to reinstall antiX (now you know how to install the driver). Don’t forget to backup your files (boot from live media and copy all your important stuff)
There’s always the chance the driver botched your install, since it was not made for antiX, but, being for debian, it “should” work fine in antiX…
Can you try to install the driver booting from live media (usb stick or cd-rom)?

Yes I will start a new thread.

                    Thank you for your time.
