      Hi!

I’m not very familiar with Wicd as yet.

I’ve set it to automatically log on to my own home Wifi network.
I assumed that meant it would always log on to thast network as soon as I start up the computer.

But it doesn’t seem to. At the start of a session, I still have to go to Wicd and make the connection.
The password has been saved, so that’s not an issue.

I’m just wondering how (or if) the computer can automatically use Wicd to log onto a Wifi service as soon as the computer is stated up.

      Thanks (yet atain) in advance!

What have the Romans ever done for us?
Apart from: sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, fresh water, and public health?

I’ve set it to automatically log on to my own home Wifi network.

We’re talking about two different settings here.

        1. You need a configured WiFi (AP + PW) — which you configured and which will log you in automatically as you choose it to do.

        2. You need a Wicd to auto-start first to be able to log you in automatically. Allow auto-start in Wicd settings.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

So Wicd is up and running but not logged on to the network? I use Wicd and two thing I have noticed:

1- Wicd can be slow to connect, especially at initial logon/startup.
2- Wicd will show the ‘not connected’ icon but in actual fact it is actually connected. Again slow to change but will.

How long do you wait until you react to Wicd’s connection? Despite these 2 issues I find Wicd to be very stable and reliable.

Thanks eriefisher; I got it up and running now.

It was just getting Wicd to start up when I first log on was the problem.
ust these beginner’s tips and tricks I’m trying to get sorted out at the moment, that’s all.

Thanks for taking the time, though…
