How can I reduce the startup delay on the live usb stick permanently ?

“The marked entry will start in 60 seconds”

        Hello Caprea,

Not sure whether I remember correctly, but I think the startup delay can be set in the file

        /live/boot-dev/boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg

        which contains a line

        timeout 3000

set it to some other (shorter) value.

        Many greetings
        Robin

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

Many thanks for answering, Robin. This looked confident. Unfortunately no change in the boot delay. This was one of the possibilities I had not yet tried.

There are some config files in /live/boot-dev/boot/ in which the startup time is specified, it’s kind of labyrinth.

Like Robin I’m not too sure how to achieve this.
            Please try this:

            cat /etc/default/grub

            If you get GRUB_TIMEOUT=60

Then it’s this file that you have to edit (in sudo mode) and set to the number of seconds you want and… generate a new iso, incorporating this changes?, I guess

            P.

              Thanks PPC,/etc/default/grub contains GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
It’s prepared for after the installation it seems.

                Pls look at

                /live/boot-dev/boot/grub/config

Hope boot-dev is right not boot/dev.
Unsure if notes from long ago are correct no stick to check at the moment

Yeah, that did the trick, changing the timeout=60 to timeout=7
                  in live/boot-dev/boot/grub/config/bootmenu.cfg
Many thanks, Xunxi_23, for the good tip.
